Mountain Weekend

Every year we do a mountain weekend with some of our best friends and this year we went in May. Saturday turned out to be a rainy day but we had fun outside anyways. G loved playing in a stream and we enjoyed hanging out in one of the parks.

Easter 2011

Here are a few pictures from our Easter this year. We had a great, low-key day just the three of us.

Belly Pic (28 weeks)

I bought some bunny masks thinking they would be fun and that G would enjoy them.
Well, not so much...but I thought it was funny to see P in one.

The Envelope

Last time I was pregnant, we decided not to find out what we were having. But this time around, we were torn and had the ultrasound tech put the picture in an envelope just in case. For weeks the envelope sat on our counter (and believe me I held that thing up to lights and did anything possible to try and see through it - but my doctor's office uses good, THICK envelopes). We finally decided to go out for a date night and open it...

...and this is what it said!! We were so surprised and excited!

Whirlwind...

So the last few months have been a whirlwind at our house...I'm sure you noticed a screeching halt to the blog posts. And so much for belly pics this time around. I really did have good intentions and will still try to post a few we have taken along the way.

So, what have we been up to? We have done some major projects around the house making room for another baby (more on that to come), have done some traveling to visit family and friends, and have tried to relax a little in the midst of everything.

I stumbled across these two pictures of G the other day and just wanted to share them. They both make me laugh...hope you enjoy them!

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Has it really been two years since we first met our little guy? He has changed so much over the past 24 months and has truly become a little person full of his own opinions, likes and dislikes. He is sweet, tender-hearted and so fun-loving! He loves to jump on pillows, couches or beds (supervised of course), play hide-and-seek with daddy (his version of counting being one...two...ten), and build towers (mainly so he can knock them down). He could play for hours with cars and trains - anything with wheels really. And when he wants picked up, the phrase that melts my heart every day is "mama carry you." G - we love you so so much and can't imagine life without you! Thank you for all the joy you bring to our lives!

Baby #2 is on the way!! We found out in November that we are expecting our second child, due in July! We are really excited about becoming a family of four. I am attempting to post belly pics along the way this time so here I am two weeks ago at 15 weeks (sorry for the late post).

Wow does the belly pop out faster the second time around! :)

Happy New Year!

As another year has come to a close, I wanted to take some time to reflect on 2010. Last year was a year of many ups and downs, joys and sorrows, and a tremendous amount of personal growth, which is always a long, hard road. But, I am so thankful for what God has been doing in my heart and for the path that has led to today.

I took a hiatus from blogging last year as I didn't know what to write...the good, the bad, the sad, the fun...so I just stopped for a while. But, I'm back! I am excited to start a new year and share what is going on with our family! But before we move on to 2011, I want to do a tribute to my Grandpa who died this past October.

Grandpa was a smart and talented man who loved God and his family. He played the saxophone and clarinet, both of which he played in dance bands in his younger years. He was a handy and skilled craftsman who built the house my mom grew up in by himself over the course of a year and a half. He also enjoyed building model cars and could fix anything. He was an excellent golfer and played often - he even got a hole in one at Ocean Isle once when playing with my dad. He was a deacon in his church and sang in the church choir for over 40 years. He had polio in his early twenties and the way he overcame this setback, which ended his career of sheet metal work on airplanes, shows so much about who he was. While in the hospital, he asked his mom to teach him how to knit and he made socks for soldiers during WWII. He went on to get a business degree in accounting and worked for the same company for 37 years. He was kind, gentle yet firm, loving, determined, a hard worker, was fabulous at teaching things to others, and a wonderful provider for his family. At his funeral, my dad described him as "straight as an arrow"- unwavering, unshakeable, strong in his convictions, not afraid to stand up for what he believed in, someone who knew who he was. He believed in treating others with kindness and lending a helping hand whenever possible. He was an amazing man, a member of the greatest generation, and I am thankful for his influence in my life. I will miss him dearly - "they just don't make them like that anymore."
